This large chest of five drawers has a lovely warm color and a strong grain pattern to the drawer fronts. Applied crown molding around the top gives it a step-down effect and exposes the dovetails that join the top to the sides. The deep top drawers are flanked and separated by applied split balusters. The lower three drawers, pretty much equal in size, share a broad reed on the front corners of the case, capped by a carved hardwood acanthus leaf corbel. This is a splendid piece offering generous storage with a fairly shallow profile.
